How Ketamine IV infusions works
Ketamine has been used as a pain reliever and anesthetic for decades. It acts on the brain’s NMDA (N-methyl-D-aspartate) receptors, and stimulates glutamate production. Glutamate is a major neurotransmitter that regulates the mood. It acts quickly and effectively to relieve pain and mental health problems that are resistant to traditional treatments. We deliver ketamine through intravenous (IV) infusion after calculating a dose that will benefit you without any anesthetic effects.

The Treatment Process
You will feel a prick as the technician puts the needle in your vein, then you sit back and relax as the ketamine drips into your body painlessly. You will feel your mood lift but you won’t get high, and your pain will noticeably reduce. We will ask you to stay for 30 minutes after the treatment in order to monitor your vitals and reaction to the drug.
After Treatment
It is wise to bring a loved one who will drive you home since you will be mildly sedated. You should feel energized again the following morning. We will schedule a series of treatments to better manage your pain after each treatment.
